The education farm sanctuary is home to many dogs. TATOR and TANNER are the two resident Livestock Guardian Dogs, and WINNIE is a familiar face you will see as she helps to educate on adopting and fostering homeless pets. You may also occasionally see several other “house pet” dogs who make appearances in the pasture like WALLY, WRIGLEY, ANNIE, ZIGGY, or CHANCE!
All of the dogs and all of the animals at the farm are rescued and have great stories to share.
WINNIE is a certified therapy dog and will often go on visits to schools sharing her rescue story in her book WINNIE A Wet And Windy Adventure. She is a Hurricane Harvey survivor, and she loves to tell her tale of rescue, adoption, and now living a magical life on a farm sanctuary. WINNIE shares with people, kids and adults, how amazing adopting a pet is whether that be a dog, cat, bunny, pig, or horse. October is ADOPT A DOG MONTH and “Since 1981, American Humane has celebrated “Adopt-a-Dog Month®” each October in an effort to help the estimated 3-4 million animals waiting in shelters every year get the loving, forever homes that they deserve” (American Humane website, October 2021).
The saying is so true, UNTIL THERE ARE NONE, ADOPT ONE. WINNIE is a sweet magical dog who was once sitting in a cage lost, scared, and with no-one to love her. To see her now so full of life, energy, and love, it’s hard to imagine that she or any dog would be left without a home. Dogs (and all other animals) are just so forgiving, loving, and they want to be a part of our human lives. Any animal that becomes a part of our life greatly benefits us, enriching our lives with purpose. Animals offer a refuge from the noise of the world, and they give us the perfect excuse to unplug and just relax, laugh, and love. If you’re searching for a friend, visit your local animal shelter or rescue group and adopt a new friend today. If you don’t know where to start, reach out to us here at EPIC Outreach and we can help you find the perfect friend for your lifestyle needs.
