This Valentine’s Day, we invite you to celebrate the love stories happening right here at the sanctuary.

ZEKE & ZIMBA: A Friendship Built on Trust

Love doesn’t always look like flowers and chocolates—sometimes, it looks like two donkeys leaning into a human’s touch, feeling safe and cherished.

ZEKE and ZIMBA, two rescued donkeys, came from separate difficult situations but found comfort in each other at the sanctuary. The first time a volunteer groomed ZEKE, he hesitated, unsure of human kindness. But ZIMBA stepped forward, leaned into the brush, and showed ZEKE that love is safe. Now, these two gentle souls are inseparable, always side by side, reminding us that love can be as simple as showing up for someone, again and again, until they trust.

Love Lesson: Love is patient. It takes time, consistency, and a willingness to earn trust.

MOONPIE’s Safe Place: A Love Story of Healing

MOONPIE the pig arrived at the sanctuary sick and scared. Once destined for an uncertain future, he found herself in a place where he was not just safe but truly loved.

He had never known gentle hands or a soft bed. But day by day, as we fed him, spoke kindly to him, and let him heal, he began to feel something new—security. Today, MOONPIE thrives, living peacefully in the pasture, grunting with joy when someone he trusts comes near.

Love Lesson: Love is healing. When given a chance, it helps us recover, rebuild, and feel whole again.
