June 1st, 2025

At EPIC Outreach, we believe that love knows no species—and that every animal, whether cat, dog, or pig, deserves the chance to be seen, valued, and adopted into a loving home.

June is recognized as National Adopt a Cat Month, and it’s the perfect time to pause and celebrate the magic of adoption. While cats take center stage this month, we want to gently expand the lens to include the many different animals—like pigs, horses, and dogs—that also need homes, but are often overlooked.

Take Mousy Moo, our senior barn cat, for example. He may not seek the spotlight, but he’s a quiet presence of comfort and connection. Or SPARKY the piglet, once part of a hoarding case, who now loves belly rubs and follows people around like a puppy. These animals are not just residents at EPIC—they’re living proof that adoption changes lives.

Each adoption is a ripple of kindness that stretches beyond one animal. It’s a conscious choice to say “yes” to compassion, to healing, and to hope.

Why Adoption Matters

  • There are more animals in need than there are homes available. Choosing adoption is choosing to be part of the solution.

  • Animals have emotions, bonds, and the capacity for love. Pigs play, grieve, and snuggle. Cats comfort. Dogs protect and adore.

  • You’re giving life. When you adopt, you aren’t just adding a pet to your home—you’re saving a soul.

At EPIC, we often see pigs excluded from mainstream adoption conversations. But we know firsthand that they are intelligent, affectionate, and worthy of love. That’s why we use every opportunity we can—from community visits to school programs—to raise awareness about the joy of adopting pigs and other misunderstood animals.

How You Can Be Part of It

  • Consider adopting or fostering an animal in need.

  • Share adoptable animals on your social media.

  • Support organizations doing the work through donations, volunteer time, or simple shares.

  • Talk to kids about the power of compassion and how adoption helps create a kinder world.

Love comes in many forms. Let’s keep spreading it—one adoption, one story, one act of kindness at a time.

With compassion,
Jessie and The EPIC Outreach Team
