January 2026

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it truly means to live well. Not just longer — but healthier, happier, and more connected.

For me, that answer keeps coming back to something beautifully simple: reducing stress, spending time in nature, and staying connected to those who ground us.

Choosing Connection Over Constant Motion

Some of our most meaningful moments don’t happen during busy days or big accomplishments. They happen quietly on wooded trails, during shared laughter, in the steady rhythm of footsteps beside us. Recently, I’ve been making a conscious choice to step away from the noise and spend time hiking in the woods with Ambassador pup ELLIE and our heeler herd.

We walk. We pause. We laugh. We breathe. There’s no agenda. No pressure to perform. Just presence. And in those moments, something powerful happens: our nervous systems soften, our minds quiet, and our hearts open.

Animals as Guides to a Kinder Life

Animals have an incredible way of showing us what truly matters. They don’t rush. They don’t dwell on yesterday. They don’t worry about tomorrow. They remind us to:

  • rest when we’re tired

  • move when our bodies need movement

  • eat when we’re hungry

  • and stay close to those we trust

Spending time with them whether on the farm, on a trail, or simply sitting together, reconnects us to a more natural rhythm of life. A rhythm rooted in peace, balance, and joy.

Nourishment Goes Beyond What’s on Our Plate

When we talk about nourishment, it’s easy to think only about food. But true nourishment is so much broader. It’s what we consume emotionally. It’s how we care for our bodies. It’s the environments we place ourselves in. It’s the energy we choose to surround ourselves with.

Choosing foods that support our health, selecting more plant-forward meals, and being mindful about where our food comes from are all acts of self-kindness. But so is laughter. So is rest. So is stepping outside and letting the world slow you down.

Nourishment isn’t about perfection, it’s about listening.

Rooted in Kindness, Growing Through Connection

At EPIC Outreach, we believe real change happens when people connect with animals, with nature, and with each other. That’s where compassion grows. That’s where healing begins. That’s where hope takes root.

As we move forward, my hope is to continue sharing more moments like these. Moments of peace, joy, grounding, and genuine connection, both on and off the farm. Because when we choose connection over chaos, kindness over urgency, and presence over pressure, we create space for a life filled with peace, love, health, and joy.

Thank you for walking this path with us. 🌱 – Jessie (and The EPIC Outreach Family)

We’ll be sharing more heart-centered moments from the farm and beyond — gentle reminders that kindness begins within and grows through connection.
